Post GFX Freeze
Right guys installed BF2 on my machine..

every 2 to 5 mins the game will do a slight GFX freeze for about 2 seconds.

Nnot very good tbh cos every time it happens i end up crashing the jet or the chopper

Pc Spec

Intel® Core™2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz (8192KB L2 Cache, Microprocessor) @ 2400MHz (1066MHz FSB)

Windows Vista Home

GFX Card

NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX (Processor: GeForce 8800 GTX), 768MB, 1152x864x32, 75Hz, driver version: 7.15.11.5816

Memory

3 gig

No idea what is causing the problem never happened on the laptop...

Any idea's info would be nice
Thanks

Does BF2 sounds stick aswell?

First thing I would advise is update your graphics cards drivers, secondly monitor your graphics cards temperature with either nvidias software or GPU-Z.

It might also be our beloved PunkBuster... :sniper:

It sometimes causes lag that occurs in certain intervals.
To rule out Pb..
Go to server, open console, type pb_sleep 500, hit enter, then type pb_writecfg and hit enter, to save settings.

This should decrease the time limit, when Pb checks for updates...

I think the GTX8800's had rendering issues alot in the 17#.### series, once the 18#,### series drivers were released they were working fine. Try it tonight bud, I really can't see BF2 being a major pain in the ass the render on your system, your system is way above average for BF2. It should piss on it!!

This is a long shot, update your sound drivers. The problem you have is what I had for months and turns out after updating my sound drivers the problem was gone :)

Does it CTD after the freeze? Do you use EA Download Manager?

If it does and you do could be the same problem I had. pbcl.dll was conflicting with EA Download Manager.

After numerous emails to EA and Punkbuster the only solution I found was to bypass EADM and use an image on Daemon tools. Been steady as a rock ever since.
